Situated at 1200m above sea level, surrounded by forested hills, with the bulk of Gunung Catur rising shear behind. The lake is worshipped in the temple of Pura Ulun Danau Bratan.

The temple consists of several shrines spread along the shore and perched on small islands. The real highlights, though, are the island shrines, which appear to float on the surface of the lake, with the mountains rising behind.

You will often see parties of Balinese worshipers inside this temple, taking blessings. Similarly, you are asked to stay outside the inner courtyard, but it is possible to look over the wall and get good photos.
